classic street photography

Classic street photography is an art form that captures the soul of a city and human emotions. In busy streets, old buildings or corner cafes, every moment, every person, every change of light and shadow may become an indispensable poetic element in the composition. The charm of street photography lies in its authenticity, casualness and unrepeatability.

Interestingly, many photographers began to use life-size statues as one of the protagonists in the picture when creating on the street. They are still but full of tension, as if they are in dialogue with the rhythm of the city, and they form a strong contrast with passers-by. In a black and white street shot, a life-size statue standing in the middle of the square is captured together with the hurriedly walking citizens, which not only adds layers to the picture, but also brings a visual conflict between the solidification and flow of time.

Life-size statues themselves are rich in the power and details of sculpture art, and through the perspective and composition of the photographer, they often present a surreal atmosphere. Sometimes they are mistaken for real people, and sometimes they witness the changes and hustle and bustle of the street as “outsiders”. Under the camera lens, they are no longer simple sculptures, but urban characters with stories and symbolic meanings.

Incorporating life-size statues into classic street photography not only adds interest and depth to the picture, but also broadens the expression of street photography. It reminds us that the city is not only made up of people, but also those silent but always existing sculptures, witnessing the flow of time and the footprints of life with us.
